Jordan Findlay and Michael Stewart
finish out of top 40 in Alabama
East Tennessee State University's two Scottish students, Jordan Findlay from Fraserburgh and Michael Stewart from Troon, finished joint 41st and 48th respectively in the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate tournament at Shoal Creek, Alabama today.
Findlay scored 76, 76 and 79 for 231, including a triple bogey 8 at the 11th and a double bogey 6 at the 12th in his last round. In all, the former British boys' champion had seven birdies over the 54 holes but he was dragged down by that triple bogey and three double bogeys.
Scottish boys match-play champion Stewart had rounds of 77, 80 and 76 for 233. He had a triple bogey 7 in his last round. Michael had four birdies over the three rounds. He had two double bogeys in the second round and one double bogey in the first round.
But their Welsh-born team-mate Rhys Enoch from Cornwall tied for the individual title on two-under-par 214 with scores of 74, 69 and 71.
East Tennessee State finished fifth of 12 in the team event.
