URQUHART FAILS TO GAIN PLACE IN
JOBURG OPEN WITH ONE-OVER 72
Northern Open champion Murray Urquhart from Inverness failed by two strokes to get a place in the Joburg Open which starts tomorrow at Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club.
Urquhart, who gained playing rights for the Sunshine Tour a few weeks back through its Qualifying School, had a round of one-over-par 72 to finish joint 28th in the qualifying event for the Joburg Open over the same course.
Urquhart, starting at the 10th, had an error-strewn first nine holes with bogeys at the 12th, 13th and 17th. Turning in three-over-par 38, the Scot settled down to par every hole before getting an eagle 3 at his closing hole, the 554yd ninth hole.
Only the top 10 players with scores of 69 or better from a field of 85 qualified for places in the Joburg Open.
