Hamburg hosts Porsche European Open next July

The Porsche European Open will have a new home when the European Tour returns to Germany for the tournament’s 35th edition, with Green Eagle Golf Courses near Hamburg announced today as the new tournament venue next summer.

The event will be played on the North Course, one of the longest in Europe, with some of the world’s best golfers competing for €2 million in prize money from July 26-30, as Hamburg hosts a prestigious European Tour event for the first time in a decade. Tournament Director Dominik Senn, CEO of 4sports and Entertainment AG, said:
“Hamburg is Germany's second-largest city and also lies close to Scandinavia, and we hope fans in Denmark and Sweden will be drawn to the nearby competition,” said Senn.

You can buy a £100 share in Wallace Booth to

help him meet 2017 EuroPro expenses

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Comrie, Perthshire's former Walker Cup player Wallace Booth is following the successful example of another Scot, Duncan Stewart, in planning to raise the £20,000-£25,000 he needs to fund the 2017 season on the EuroPro Tour, on which he was a winner in 2012.
Wallace says:
"Since September, my golf is in the best shape it has ever been, along with mentally having turned the corner in terms of belief and also being injury-free, making me excited for the challenges ahead next year.
"I will be playing full time on the EuroPro tour, with the minimum goal of obtaining my Challenge Tour card for 2018."
Booth, 30-year-old brother of LET player Carly, feels that selling shares in himself for next season is the best way to be able to go out and play worry-free golf, allowing him to focus fully on his game.
"To play a full season including, warm weather prep and tour school at the end of the year, I will need roughly £20,000 - £25,000, so I am aiming to sell 250 shares at £100 per share," says Walace.
"There are also options for branding of a business logo if enough shares are purchased by an individual person or company. I will pay each shareholder a dividend at the end of the year from my total winnings (after withholding tax/PGA levy):

- if I sell 1 - 150 shares, then I will split my winnings 70% me / 30% shareholders.
- if I sell 151 - 200 shares, then I will split my winnings 60% me / 40% shareholders.
- if I sell 201 shares or more, then I will split my winnings 50% me / 50% shareholders."

Thomas Bjorn set to be named Europe's 2018

Ryder Cup captain

FROM GOLF CHANNEL
Sweden's Thomas Bjorn is expected to be named today as Europe's team captain for the 2018 Ryder Cup match.

Bjorn played on three winning Ryder Cup teams, and now he will be the man to lead the European team in 2018.

Golf Channel insider Tim Rosaforte confirms that Bjorn will be named the captain today. He has served as an assistant captain four times (2004, 2010, 2012, 2016) and played on winning teams in 1997, 2002 and 2014.

Bjorn won 15 times on the European Tour and compiled a 3-4-2 record in the Ryder Cup. He was an assistant captain on Darren Clarke's team in October when Europe lost to the U.S. for the first time in eight years. It was the only time Bjorn had been part of a losing team either as a player or assistant captain.

The 2018 Ryder Cup match will be held at Le Golf National outside Paris.
