Only Cameron, Kiloh and Collier make the

cut in Austria

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Ellon's Ross Cameron (tied 12th), Sam Kiloh (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre), joint 28th, and former Scottish boys' champion Ben Collier, tied 37th, were the only Scots to survive the 36-hole cut in the German PGA Development Tours Adamstal Open at Adamstal Golf Club, Ramsau, Austria today.
Cameron has had rounds of 69 and 71 for one-over-par 141 and would have been in the top overnight but for a triple bogey 6 at the short 12th in his second round.
Kiloh had a bigger disaster - a triple bogey 7 at the opening hole and a bogey at the second - but he birdied the third, fifth and 15th, to salvage a second-round 71 for 145.
Collier, originally from Callander and Scottish boys champion in 1990, strung together his best two rounds since he joined the tour, shooting 75-71 for 146, the limit mark for qualifying for the final round.
Phil McLean (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) missed the cut by one with 73-74 for 147, a double bogey 6 at the 11th proving very costly.
Former Scottish amateur championb Alexander Culverwell (Dunbar) shot 74-76 for 150 while Kevin Duncan (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) had a quadruple bogey 8 at the fourth after bogeying the first three holes. He took 46 blows to the turn on his way to a second-round 81 for 152.
Chris Robb (Meldrum House), beaten in a play-off last week, had a 10 at the seventh and took 45 to the turn on his way to a 77 for 153.
Germany's Dominik Pietzsch leads by two with rounds of 67-66 for seven-under 133

Flooded Deeside course re-opens on Friday

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Deeside Golf Club's Haughton Course will re-open as an 18-hole course on Friday, almost five months after the River Dee flooded the course and left a covering of mud all over the Bieldside parkland venue when it subsided.
"We were flooded on December 23 and then Storm Frank hit us on December 30," said director of golf Frank Coutts.
"Hopefully the Blairs course will be in play the following Friday."
A lot of work has been done by the greenkeeping staff and a lot of money has had to be spent on returfing areas.

Paul O'Hara takes a three-shot lead into

P and H Championship final round

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Overnight leader Louis Gaughan (Bathgate)  started the second round of the Tartan Tour's £50,000 P and H Championship with a two-stroke lead and finished it nine strokes adrift of the new leader, Paul O'Hara (Clydeway Golf), pictured.

Gaughan followed a sparkling five-under 66 with a dismal 79, which included a double bogey 5 at the short ninth and eight bogeys, as well as two birdies in halves of 45-37 for a 36-hole tally of 145 at Renaissance Club, between Gullane and North Berwick.
At least the Bathgate boy figured among the 45 qualifiers with totals of 148 and better who qualified for Wednesday's final round.
Biggest name among the non-qualifiers in a starting field of 126?
Probably Downfield senior Kenny Hutton with 77-72 to miss the cut by one.
O'Hara, after a disappointing one-over 37 to the turn, got into top gear after the turn, birdieing the 10th, 12th, 13th and 17th for 31 home and a repeat of  his first-day 68 for six-under 139. The Clydeway Golf man leads by three shots from Irishman Brendan McGovern (69-70) and  Christopher Currie (Caldwell) (69-70), one of the most consistent performers on the Tartan Tour.
Don't rule out Greig Hutcheon yet! The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Inchmarlo man - who is due to tee it up in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth on Thursday - shot a 69 for 140 to be fourth on the leaderboard - four off the pace - as he bids to make it three Tartan Tour wins in a row.

He won the Largs and West Dunbartonshire pro-ams last Friday-Saturday.
Defending champion Paul Robinson (Largs) is on 147 (75-72) as is new Senior PGA champion Robert Arnott (Bishopbriggs), winner of the P and H title in 2014.

Stars of the future take centre stage at East

Lothian

NEWS RELEASE
Golf fans are being given the chance to see some of the pros of the future when more than 600 budding junior golfers will take to the tee on Scotland’s Golf Coast. Spectators can be sure they will see some high quality action from some of the best young golfers in the world, playing on East Lothian’s world-class golf courses.
The tournament, which gives a million pound plus boost to the local economy, brings in talent from as far afield as Australia and Mauritius.
With five days of play culminating in the Ryder Cup style Van Horn Cup, junior golfers and their families often take the trip over as a family holiday and take the opportunity to explore East Lothian and beyond.

Dan Van Horn, President and founder of U.S. Kids Golf, said: “I’m always blown away at the talent and dedication shown by the players at the European Championship. But even more, the passion and enjoyment that the players and their families have for being here is my greatest takeaway. We love coming to Scotland, the Home of Golf, and appreciating the history and beauty of the game that this community promotes so well.

“This event is proof that you can have a major championship for kids, where the competition level is the highest you’ll find anywhere, and still enjoy the laughter, camaraderie and energy that young players bring to golf.

“Many of these players will go on to have great successful careers in golf, whether it’s in college, working or hopefully, playing on Tour. I hope all of them continue to keep golf a big part of their life. In watching them play and have fun, I am confident they will.”

The tournament benefits more than just the skills of the players involved as the influx of tourists staying in Gullane and the surrounding area fills hotels and B and Bs providing a welcome economic injection to local businesses.

As one of the biggest junior international golf tournaments in the world, the European Championship also helps to raise the profile of the five courses played; Gullane No.3, Craigielaw,LongniddryLuffness and The Glen and draw attention to East Lothian as one of Scotland’s premier golf destinations.

The Tournament takes places from Tuesday, May 31 - Thursday, June 2 with the Van Horn Cup on Friday, June 3.
