Jack Doherty's roller-coaster 70 has him tied 

fifth in Algarve Pro Tour event

Jack Doherty (North Gailes Golf Centre) had a mixed bag of one eagle, four birdies and four bogeys on his way to a two-under-par 70 (37-33) and a share of fifth place at the end of the first round of this week's Algarve Pro Tour 36-hole competition at the testing Palmares course, Lagos.

Doherty is three off the pace being set by Englishman Daniel Garner
Jay Taylor had five birdies but two double bogeys in a 74 (39-35) for a share of 18th spot.
Craig Lawrie (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) had double bogeys at the fifth and 11th in halves of 36-40 for 76 and a share of 30th place.
Craig's cousin Sean Lawrie is struggling to find his form at the moment. He ran up an 81 (40-41) which included a triple bogey 8 at the fourth and double bogeys at the sixth and seventh.
He did birdie the fifth, eighth and ninth. to be joint 52ndin a field of 69 players.
Conor O'Neill had halves of 42-36, including three double bogeys in his 78 for joint 41st place.  
Young Deeside amateur Benjamin Henderson had an 85 for T60 position.

David Law lying third at end of first day in 

Red Sea Egyptian Classic

David Law (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre), clubhouse leader for most of the day, was eventually headed by Max Walz (Germany) and Alexis Anghert (France) with three-under-par 69s.

Law, pictured, is in third place on his own on 70 with birdies at second, 15th and long 17th in halves of 34 and 36. His only bogey came at the 10th.
Former Scottish amateur champion Alexander Culverwell (Dunbar), making debut as a professional, is tied fifth on 72 with Ross Cameron (Saltire Energy).
Culverwell birdied the long eighth and 11th in halves of 35-37. He bogeyed the second and long 13th.
Cameron have five birdies in halves of 36 but cancelled them out with five bogeys.
Duncan Stewart (Turnhouse) had no birdies in a four-over 76 for a share of 31st place.
Paul Lawrie Golf Centre pair Sam Kiloh and Phil McLean tied with Chris Robb (Meldrum House) for 49th place on 78.
Kiloh had halves of 40-38, McLean 39-39 after birdieing the 17th and 18th, and Robb 43-35, birdieing the 15th, 17th and 18th.
