Streamlined Fraser Mann wins final event of

Senior Golf Circuit

The final event on this year's Senior Golf Circuit at Desert Springs in Spain was won by Carnoustie's Fraser Mann.
Two steady rounds of 68 for a six-under-par total of 136 saw him finish one shot ahead of Matt Briggs from Donnington Grove.
In joint third place were  Spain's Domingo Hospital,a former winner on the European Tour and Seniors European Tour,  and former Ryder Cup player Peter Baker, making his second start on the tour for professionals and amateurs aged 48 or over.
The four weeks before the "Almeria Swing" tournaments Fraser did four weeks of "hard labour" at the World Players Academy .
" Earlier in the year I met up with Nick Lane who is one of the directors and coaches at the Marbella-based World Players Academy," said Mann.

"I was impressed with what he was saying and the website so I decided to try it out for myself. Mark Macrae, who is the fitness expert, helped me greatly with my flexibility and Dr John Pates,
the resident psychologist, opened my eyes to a number of things that had been preventing me in reaching my golfing goals.
"At the age of 55 I was able to gain at least 20 yards on my drives and during the three tournaments directly after the four weeks at the academy I finished second , fourth and first!
"The academy was set up five years ago by Nick and attracts pupils from all over the world. I was the oldest pupil by nearly 30 years and I found it a great incentive to work alongside these dedicated youngsters.
"If anyone is interested in doing some serious work on their game, have a look at worldplayersacademy.com website and get in touch 2with Nick.
"The only downside was I had to buy new trousers because I lost so much weight !"

Houses of Parliament tee off to support Golf

NEWS RELEASE
Members of both Houses of Parliament have come together to create an All-Party Group to support the sport of golf and announced the date of its first meeting of 2016.
All-Party Groups comprise Members of both Houses and all political parties who support specific interests.  In the case of the Golf Group, Members have decided on the deliberately broad but simple remit “to support the game of golf”.

The Group’s first meeting of next year is to be held on the evening of Tuesday 19 January 2016 in the Houses of Parliament.
As well as Lords and MPs, the Group welcomes non-Parliamentarians as Associate Members, and invites organisations, clubs, and individuals to join the Group and attend meetings and provide their thoughts on various issues and any regulation that impacts on the sport.
To coincide with the launch of the Group, the website www.parliamentary.golf has been created and anyone interested in becoming an Associate Member can join by visiting the relevant page or can sign up to the Group’s news announcements.  The Group has also created the twitter account @ParliamentGolf.
The Group’s Chairman is Lincoln’s MP Karl McCartney.  Announcing the creation of the Group, he said “I am delighted to be a part of this new Group.  Golf is a sport enjoyed by everyone, and many of them are my constituents, but there is more that can be done to ensure the opportunities to play are there and barriers to being involved are removed.

"I am very much looking forward to welcoming Members of all parties into the Group and holding our first meeting in the New Year on January 19th.”Stephen Gethins, MP for North East Fife – home of The RandA – is Vice-Chairman of the Group.  He welcomed the creation of the Group as a vehicle for economic development as well as sport participation.  He said
“Golf is incredibly important to the economy in North East Fife and elsewhere. It is also a fantastic way for people to be active, keep fit and play competitive and recreational sport.
"We have a great amateur and professional game in the United Kingdom, and it is important that we recognise the local benefits major tournaments can bring and ensure that those benefits are passed on to all in the game.”

YOU are invited to vote for Scottish Golf’s

Player of the Year

NEWS RELEASE
Scotland’s leading Tour professionals and top performing amateurs are to battle it out for the coveted Player of the Year Award honour, with golf fans invited to vote for their favourite.

One of the highlights of the Scottish Golf Awards, which will take place on Friday 11 March at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, the Aberdeen Asset Management sponsored Player of the Year recognises achievements at the top end of the professional and amateur game over 2015, for both male and female golfers.

Past winners include Catriona Matthew, Paul Lawrie, two-time Scottish Amateur champion David Law and last year’s victor, Stephen Gallacher, with a host of candidates lining up to join the prestigious roll of honour.

Voting was launched today by former Player of the Year Matthew, who will become the first female recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in March, with Allied Surveyors Scotland announced as sponsors of Matthew’s accolade. The company were title sponsors of the Scottish Amateur Championship between 2005 and 2010 and Managing Director Ian Thomson is delighted to be supporting the event.

“We had a great association with amateur golf in Scotland for a number of years through the Scottish Golf Union and welcome the opportunity to be involved once more through sponsorship of the Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Thomson.

“Catriona Matthew has been a fantastic ambassador for Scottish Golf throughout her career and Allied Surveyors Scotland are delighted to be joining fellow fans at the Awards to celebrate her receiving this well-deserved honour.”

There is no shortage of nominees this time around, including Russell Knox, who secured one of the biggest titles outside of the Major Championships when he claimed his maiden Tour victory at the WGC-HSBC Champions and now sits at No. 30 in the world rankings. Marc Warren has enjoyed another fine season on the global stage, while Richie Ramsay secured his third European Tour win in Morocco early in the season.

Pamela Pretswell was a model of consistency on the Ladies European Tour, finishing the season in 14th place on the money list and the leading Scot.

Colin Montgomerie continued to dominate on the senior circuit, defending the US Senior PGA and winning the European Senior Tour Order of Merit for the second year in a row, while Andrew McArrthur and Jamie McLeary battled hard to regain their European Tour cards after finishing in the top 15 on the Challenge Tour rankings.

There was notable success in the amateur ranks as three Scots – Ewen Ferguson, Grant Forrest and Jack McDonald – played their part in GB and I’s record Walker Cup victory over the USA at Royal Lytham and St Annes, having also helped Scotland to glory in the European Amateur Team Championship.

Nairn’s Sandy Scott burst onto the scene with three wins en route to winning the Boys Order of Merit, while Shannon McWilliam was one of the youngest-ever winners of the Ladies Order of Merit and represented GB and I in the Junior Vagliano Trophy.

Online voting is now open at www.scottishgolf.org, with all participating fans going into a prize draw to win two pairs of tickets to the Scottish Golf Awards. Voting closes on Friday 12 February 2016.

A dog was stolen from a golf course a week past Wednesday (December 9), according to onemk.uk.co
What is wrong with this world?!
The dog was a chihuahua named Tia, and she was stolen from the Three Locks golf course, Great Brickhill, Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, England. There are no other details, but this is what Tia looks like:

“Incidents like this are quite unusual and have a significant impact on victims," said Detective Stephanie Macleod.
Wait, was she referring to the dog or the dog's owner? Either way,  it's rough. Hopefully, whatever sicko stole Tia will come to his/her senses and return this innocent creature.

FOOTNOTE from COLIN FARQUHARSON : I've had a Sunderland of Scotland rainjacket stolen from Murrayshall Hotel clubhouse changing room at a Scottish schools championship ... but. come to think of it, I've never taken a dog to a golf course!
