Scott Henry in top 10 at Nordea Masters

Scott Henry is not one of the most high-profile Scots on the European Tour but he is in joint ninth place after three rounds of the Nordea Masters with rounds of 69, 71 and 71 for five-under-par 211.
Henry, pictured below, is six shots behind the leader, Sweden's Alex Noren (70-68-67 for 205).

Stephen Gallacher is in joint 23rd place on 213, the same mark as Andrew McArthur. Gallacher has shot three rounds of 71, while McArthur has had rounds of 71, 69 and 73.
Henrik Stenson surged up the leaderboard in the third round of the with a four under par 68 for a share of sixth place.
After a two-hour suspension of play for a morning thunderstorm at PGA Sweden National, the 39 year old World Number Four started eagle-birdie to make early progress, and finished by birdieing the par five 18th to move to six under par for the tournament.

Alex Noren, moving into the lead at ten under par 206, thanks to four birdies in his first five holes.
Stenson said: “I played pretty well. It was pretty tough once again, and I hope the wind stays up this afternoon.
“I was on the wrong side of the draw the first two days with the wind in the morning in the first round and easing up in the afternoon, then starting getting a bit stronger again in the afternoon yesterday. It’s going to be tough for the guys out there.
“I’m happy with my score. I left a couple of shots out there and made two bogeys on the par threes where I three-putted, but I hit a lot of good stuff as well so all in all it was a solid round.
“At least I’m in with a chance now. It was a momentum killer to three-putt 17 but I got it back on 18 and at six under you never know.
“ That stretch coming in, down 16, 17 and 18, is really tough in the wind.
Lytham Trophy winner Marcus Kinhult (Sweden) went into free fall from his high of sharing the lead at halfway. He had a 77 for 212. seven off the pace.

Swiss Challenge report and scores

Becker's brilliant finish puts him two clear

EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS
Oliver Bekker produced a breathtaking finish to a roller-coaster round as the South African extended his lead to two strokes heading into the final day of the Swiss Challenge presented by Association Suisse de Golf, having negotiated his final six holes in six under par.
In an enthralling moving day at Golf Sempachersee, Bekker started strongly and moved three shots clear at one point early on, but he proceeded to suffer a remarkable collapse with six dropped shots leaving him three shots off the pace on four under par for the tournament.
But the 30 year old staged a truly stunning finish and four birdies and an eagle in the final third of his round meant he signed for a one under par 70 and took the outright lead ahead of a packed leaderboard at the sun-kissed Lucerne venue.
“I don’t think I have ever finished like that in my life,” said the three-time Sunshine Tour winner. “It was like two different people playing today, the first 12 holes were horrendous. I couldn’t do anything right and I actually got lucky on a couple of holes.
“I holed out from a fairway bunker from 46 yards at the fourth for birdie, I made a couple of 30-footers and then I missed four really easy putts. To shoot six under in the last six, it was a completely different golf game I was playing.
“I just found a bit of rhythm and started hitting good tee shots, which gave me a chance to hit my irons close, and then holed some good putts coming in.
“I got to a state where I was so far over par that I thought, just go for it, you’ve got nothing to lose now. Then I hit a good tee shot at 13, hit it close and made the putt. Then I did the same at the next and all of a sudden I was back in the mix. I just said, lets finish strong, and I managed to do that.”
It was a remarkable round of golf and Bekker is hoping that his poor patch midway through the third round is the last one of the week as he chases a career-changing maiden Challenge Tour title.
Gary Boyd of England is two shots back on eight under par after the Englishman carded a two under par 69 to continue his Swiss resurgence, having suffered a difficult period of form in the last two years.
It had looked for a long time that eight players would share the third round lead on seven under par at Sempachersee, but in the end there were five players three shots off Bekker’s lead, including young Northern Irishman Chris Selfridge, playing just his second professional event after a stellar amateur career.

Michael Stewart (T5) top Scot at windswept

Longhirst Hall, earns £1,516

PGA EUROPRO NEWS RELEASE
Sam Connor birdied the last to win the Dawson and Sanderson Travel Classic after a windswept final round at Longhirst Hall Golf Club near Morpeth.

The Alsager Golf and Country Club, Staffordshire  player finished two shots ahead of second-placed Christopher Evans, who bogeyed the 18th, in the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour event.

Connor carded a final-round 76 on the par-72 Dawson Course, which saw players contending with strong and gusty winds similar to those at the Irish Open last weekend. He was one under coming down the last and played a superb approach shot before making a short downhill putt for birdie.

It’s the 23-year-old’s first win on the EuroPro Tour and he takes home £10,000, a brand new Motocaddy S1 trolley, Bushnell Tour X range finder, Bolle sunglasses and £500 to spend at HotelPlanner.com

“I am in shock,” admitted Connor. “It feels amazing. You work towards this and I cannot put it in words how it feels.

“I was very happy with that birdie at the last. I hit a nice tee shot over the corner but only with a five iron – it was playing so strong downwind.
"We picked a yardage and a line for the second shot and committed to it. I hit it perfect and had six feet down the hill and rolled it in beautifully. The wind was unbelievably tough today.

“My main goal at the start of the season was to get onto the Challenge Tour and that doesn’t change. There is still a lot of work to do but if I keep doing what I am doing, I will achieve that.”

Connor had been neck-and-neck with Evans in the closing stages of the tournament after dropping four shots in the space of five holes from 13 to 17. However, his birdie at the last put pressure on Evans to equal his birdie 3 for a play-off, but the Wishaw Golf and Country Club, Sutton Coldfield player faltered with a bogey 5.

Jason Timmis (Wychwood Park Golf Club) finished third on one over after rounds of 69, 73 and 75. Craig Farrelly (TPS) came fourth on two over and three players shared fifth on three over, five behind winner Connor.

Highlights air on Sky Sports on Tuesday, June 16. The next  PGA EuroPro Tour event is at Cumberwell Park and begins on Wednesday, June 17, concluding Friday, June 19.

Peter Fowler is the Senior Wizard of Oz

EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS
Peter Fowler sealed a sentimental return to the course where six years ago he feared for his golfing future, clinching a hard-fought one-stroke victory in the Acorn Jersey Open at La Moye Golf Club.
The Australian, who celebrates his 56th birthday on Tuesday, injured his back on the eve of his European Senior Tour debut on the Channel Island in 2009 and subsequently required surgery which kept him out of the game for nearly a year.
But this time fortune proved to be in his favour as he survived a nervous finish to card a one under par closing round of 71 and a seven under par winning score of 209, holding off the challenge of playing partner Anders Forsbrand to capture his fourth Senior Tour title, and first since the 2013 French Riviera Masters
Coincidentally, Fowler also made his European Tour debut at La Moye Golf Club 32 years ago, and despite the painful memories of the carer-threatening injury he sustained at the venue, he admits it is a special place for him.
“I made my European Tour debut here and my Senior Tour debut as well, and it is fantastic to now win here too,” said Fowler.

“It’s a course I’m very fond of, so it is special. I also lost in a play-off here to John Morgan in 1986 and my caddie this week, Tim Morton, was on the bag then. I’m staying with him this week, so it’s nice for us to come back together nearly 30 years later and go one better.
“It was a good tussle today with Anders. We played the Tour at the same time and he played very strong today, hitting a lot of greens, but my putting was the difference. I’ve worked hard on my putting and it has come back the last couple of weeks, because it wasn’t very good last year.”
Although he just missed out on a second Senior Tour title, Forsbrand can take heart from his best finish on the Senior Tour since his victory in the SSE Scottish Senior Open in 2012.
“I played great, but I only holed one putt today,” he said. “That was almost as good as I can play, but if you don’t hole anything, you can’t win. Peter got it up and down from everywhere and battled fantastically. That was the difference. If I can keep hitting it like this, and suss out the putting, I will hit some decent numbers this year.”
Welshman Mark Mouland posted a closing round of 69 to finish tied third on five under par, alongside Switzerland’s André Bossert, who birdied the last for a round of 71.
Irish pair Des Smyth and Philip Walton both signed for rounds of 68 to share fifth place with France’s Marc Farry (72) and Englishman Andrew Sherborne (73).
American Gary Rusnak produced a spectacular finish, carding three birdies and an eagle in his final four holes, for the lowest round of the day - a six under par 66. That meant he leaped up the leaderboard into a five-way share of ninth place on two under par, alongside former Ryder Cup captain Mark James
