Banchory KO title holders Murcar Links

Title-holders Murcar Links fell at the first hurdle in this year's City of Aberdeen men's double foursomes match-play for the Maitland Shield at Hazlehead tonight.
After an epic encounter Banchory's Alasdair Ramage, Scott Larkin, Jack Harling and Adam Lindsay won through the 20th hole against Murcar Links' Corin Stewart, Adrian Styles, Anthony Bews and Duncan Raitt.
Ramage and Larkin had finished the first 18 holes one up on Stewart and Styles but Bews and Raitt levelled it for Murcar by finishing one up on Harling and Lindsay after the regulation round.
Home course favourites Hazlehead KO'd Royal Aberdeen by five holes

Hazlehead's Scott Robertson and Greig Kennedy finished two up on  Nick Macandrew and Grant Joss while Alan Macklin and Iain Taylor did even better than that by finishing three holes to the good over Donald Macandrew and Daniel Sim
Macklin and Taylor were three down after nine but won 1the 10th, the par-4 11th with an eagle 2, Taylor holing his 190yd approach shot with a five iron, and the Hazlehead pair also won the 12th to square the contest.
There was no holding Macklin and Taylor after that and they won the last three holes.
In the Links clubs derby, Bon Accord overpower Caledonian by six holes with Barrie Edmond and Graham Somers, and Matthew Greig and Matthew Dunn both finishing three up.
After comments from players about the muddy conditions prevailing on the Hazlehead No 1 course, "preferred lies" may be in operation for the rest of the Maitland Shield tournament
A decision will be made before the start of the quarter-finals.
