Andrew McArthur one off the lead in Denmark

 EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS
Adrien Bernadet and Nino Bertasio share the lead heading into the final round of the Made in Denmark Challenge after another hugely testing day at Royal Copenhagen Golf saw just eight of the 66 players who made the cut breaking par.
Bernadet and Bertasio were, somewhat unsurprisingly, among the best eight performers of the day, with Frenchman Bernadet producing the lowest score of the day, a four under par 67, to surge up the leaderboard and post a two under par leading total.
Italy’s Bertasio soon joined him after a 69, leaving the top pair one clear of overnight leader Jack Senior, Edouard Dubois and Andrew McArthur going into the final round, with Denmark’s own Mads Søgaard flying the flag of the home nation with distinction, just two shots off the lead.
Bernadet is a man in form after tying for eighth place in Turkey last week and he is looking to burst into the Challenge Tour winners’ enclosure for the first time in his career,
“It was a fantastic day – the best I have played in a long time,” smiled the 27 year old from Paris.

“I have hit a lot of good shots this week and have managed to keep my mind focussed on one shot at a time which you really need to do around this golf course.
“The conditions were not as tough today as they were yesterday, but you still had to play well get under par on this golf course.
“I am really looking forward to the final round. It’s always a little more exciting when you are in contention and I am in a perfect position.
“I just have to try and keep doing the same as I have been doing for the first three days – I have to treat it as just another round of golf, another nice walk, and hopefully at the end of the day I can get a good result.”
Bertasio, meanwhile, is relishing the challenge of Royal Copenhagen Golf as he, like Bernadet, seeks that maiden Challenge Tour win.
He said: “It was a great round today – I just had one bogey and that was actually a good bogey. I hit it in the water on the 14th and had a three iron into the green. So when you have a three iron into the green and you find the bunker and manage to get it up and down for bogey you are pleased!
“But, yeah, it was a good day. I hit a lot of fairways and greens and was very steady. There wasn’t anything spectacular but that kind of suits my game to be honest. I like tough courses where you have to grind a little bit. I certainly prefer that to having to shoot 20 under so this kind of test suits me better.
“Tomorrow will be exciting – I am just hoping the weather forecast is going to be alright – but it will also be a case of trying to be boring and playing for the fairways and greens and trying to make birdies whenever you have the chance.”

Howell, Morrison set for Barcelona showdown

English pair David Howell and James Morrison both overcame double bogeys on day three of the Open de España to share the lead going into the final round at Real Club de Golf El Prat.
On another day of strong winds and fast greens in Barcelona, Morrison set the pace with a four under par 68 and was joined on seven under for the week when Howell pitched to a couple of feet at the last to complete a third round 69.
Morrison had double bogeyed the par five second, but stormed back with seven birdies and a single dropped shot on the 17th, while Howell also had seven gains, along with two bogeys and a double bogey five on the short eighth after his first tee shot couldn’t be found in undergrowth beyond the green after he misjudged the wind direction.
The 30 year old Morrison won his only European Tour title to date in Madeira five years ago while Howell was narrowly pipped to what would have been a sixth European Tour title of the season last month in China, and has already recorded three top-five finishes this season.
Italy’s Francesco Molinari lies third on five under par after a round of 70, with Emiliano Grillo and Darren Fichardt a shot further back.
Overnight leader Edouard Espana could only manage a 76 as he dropped to sixth on three under, one ahead of a resurgent Sergio Garcia.
Seemingly heading for an early exit when his second round 72 left him three over par and outside the top 80 yesterday lunchtime, a brutal afternoon session saw him make the cut with a shot to spare and he took advantage with a third round 67 which saw him climb into a share of seventh on two under par.
James Morrison 68 (-4) Total 209 (-7)
“It’s been three very silly days – the first day I was three over after five holes and today made a seven at the second out of nowhere and fought my way back again.
“It’s what you’ve got to do really – it takes one good shot to get back in it.
“I’ve done that all week; I’ve really maintained my process and my game plan.
“It’s always a great week – it’s always really well run and it’s great fun.”
David Howell 69 (-3) Total 209 (-7)
“I’m delighted to be in the mix again.
“I haven’t managed to win this year but I’ve given myself three chances and this is going to be a fourth chance – hopefully I’ll do it tomorrow.
“It’s a real challenge and the course is really firm. But it’s very fair – you’ve got to be on the fairway.
“As the week’s gone on it’s felt like a really, really good championship. It’s got tougher and tougher as the week has gone on and the crowds have come out so it’s just the way it should be.”
Sergio Garcia 67 (-5) Total 2014 (-2)
"I obviously needed a great round today, and it would have been if I hadn't made those two bogeys on 12 and 13. But to be able to birdie 14 and 15 with two very nice shots and good putts got me back on track.
"I didn't play much different than the first two days. I managed to make a couple of nice putts early on, and a couple of things went my way. I missed my drive on 18 and managed to get away with it and make birdie. That made the difference between today and the first two rounds.
"The course is playing similar. The wind is not as strong but it's still gusty. If you play well you can post a decent score, but if you're a little bit off, you can struggle on this course.
"If the leaders don't go much lower than what they are, with another great round tomorrow I have a chance. If it doesn't rain the course is not going to play any easier."
Defending champion Miguel Angel Jiménez, meanwhile, trailed compatriot Garcia by a shot on one under after signing for a level par 72 which included three birdies and three bogeys.
Paul Lawrie's seven-over-par 79 must have been his highest score on the European Tour for many a long day. He tweeted that he hit only four fairways and seven greens in regulation and had 32 putts.

McIlroy, Mickelson only three off Wells Fargo

lead shared by Simpson, Streb
FROM SKYSPORTS.COM
Webb Simpson and Robert Streb will head into the weekend of the Wells Fargo Championship tied for the lead as Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson moved into contention on day two.
Local resident Simpson fired a second-straight 67 to set the clubhouse target at 10 under par, and he was soon joined at the top by Streb after the first-round leader added a solid 69 to his opening 65 on a day of good scoring at Quail Hollow.

Wells Fargo Championship

McIlroy kept a bogey off his card as he fired a 67 to move within three of the lead, while Mickelson is on the same score after making seven birdies in a best-of-the-day 66.

Former US Open champion Simpson was one over for his round after six holes, but he birdied three in four around the turn and picked up three further shots over the final five holes to take the clubhouse lead from Martin Flores (67) and Patrick Rodgers (68).
Simpson twice chipped in for birdies at the ninth and 17th, where Colt Knost made only the second hole-in-one in the tournament's history and then closed with a birdie at the last to make the cut in some style.
Overnight leader Streb kick-started his round with three birdies in four holes from the fifth, and he got to 11 under after converting from 10 feet at the 13th before making his first bogey of the week at the 16th after finding water from the tee.
"I scored pretty well, got it going for a few holes in the middle there and then hung on at the end," said Streb, who claimed his maiden PGA Tour title at the McGladrey Classic in October. "I have the confidence, I know I can do it, but you've got to hit the shots over the weekend."

McIlroy set himself up for a tilt at a second win in the event after a flawless five-birdie round which featured a more confident performance on the greens, using only 29 putts.
Exciting weekend ahead
"It's a real solid score, it sets me up well for the weekend," McIlroy told Sky Sports 4. "I wouldn't have minded picking up a couple more but I'm going to be in one of the final groups tomorrow and it should make for an exciting weekend."
Mickelson cruised into a share of fifth place with McIlroy and Will MacKenzie after matching the earlier 66 of Steve Wheatcroft, rolling in seven birdie putts with a bogey at the eighth being his only blemish of the round.
"I played really well," he said. "I'd been turning 66s into 71s like yesterday and today it was nice to make such a good score."
Scotland's Russell Knox started and finished his round with a bogey, but he managed five birdies in between to return a 69 that got him to six under alongside Aussie Geoff Ogilvy and American trio Michael Thompson, George McNeill and Brendan Steele.
But Patrick Reed, playing with McIlroy, failed to build on his opening 66 as he bogeyed two of his last four holes in an erratic 74 that saw him slip to four under.
Henrik Stenson looked in danger of having the weekend off when he stumbled to three bogeys in four holes before a birdie at the seventh - his 16th - salvaged a 71 which ensured he would make the cut with a shot to spare on one under.
But Adam Scott crashed out after failing to recover from a horrendous start, which included a double-bogey at the 11th followed by two bogeys in a 74 that dropped him to one over, while former Open champions Louis Oosthuizen and Padraig Harrington were among the others to miss the cut.
Martin Laird is T43 after scores of 72-70

Kaske first Finn to win on Asian Development Tour

Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia: Janne Kaske produced a battling seven-under-par 65 to become the first player from Finland to win on the Asian Development Tour at the PGM MNRB Sarawak Championship today.
The 29-year-old Kaske missed a two-foot par putt on the third hole for his only bogey of the day before fighting back with eight birdies to triumph by four shots with a total of 12-under-par 276 at the Kelab Golf Sarawak.
Overnight leader Erwan Vieilledent of France enjoyed his best result on the ADT when he returned with a 72 for second place.
Malaysia’s Airil Rizman fired a 71 to share tied third place on 281 alongside Japan’s Masaru Takahashi (70) and Casey O’Toole (71) of the United States at the US $55,400) ADT event.
Kaske played college golf at Augusta State University before turning professional six years ago. He played on the European Challenge Tour and on the mini tours in Europe before trying for the Asian Tour Qualifying School earlier this year where he missed the cut.

But the popular 55-year-old Carnoustie professional, pictured with the trophy by courtesy of Getty Images (c), who eased to a six-shot victory at the Surrey venue, cut short his celebrations to head home in time to give a lesson first thing tomorrow morning!

Mann, who had chalked up top 10 finishes on his previous two appearances in the championship, never looked in danger of surrendering the title, having seen his overnight one shot advantage increase to three after the first hole.
A steady round containing two birdies and two bogeys, for a level par 73 on the Bernard Hunt course, was more than ample to capture The Bernard Hunt Trophy, named in honour of the former PGA captain and Ryder Cup legend, and the £5,250 first prize.
“It’s just great,” said Mann. “I’ve won a few things in Scotland but this is my first national title. I played really nicely today and all week and I have just enjoyed it. I birdied the first and I felt fine after that.
“I was bit nervous at first but I hit an approach to 10 feet and holed it and that was my little cushion. I wasn’t playing anyone else or looking at the scoreboard. I was just trying to play the course today at par or better.
“Having won, it’s now straight back on the road as I’m coaching at 9am tomorrow at Carnoustie, so this has been a great bonus to come away, have a break and catch up with friends.”
Victory also booked his place at Close House next month to compete in the ISPS Handa PGA Senior Championship. He will be joined at the Newcastle venue by joint runners-up Brian Sharrock (BFS Trading Ltd) and Roger Tuddenham (Hedge End Golf Centre), who finished on four-over-par for the championship.
Defending champion Kenny Hutton (Downfield) finished in a share of fourth place at five-over after a final round of 74. He was joined by John Harrison (Matfen Hall), whose hopes of a first title were dashed after he closed with a 79. Both will also pitch up at Close House as will the rest of the top 20 finishers this week.
