KILOH AND ROBB SHARE 8th PLACE IN MOROCCO

Portlethen youngster Sam Kiloh and last year's Scottish amateur champion Chris Robb from Banchory are sharing eighth place at the end of the first round of the Al Maaden Open at Marrakech, Morocco.

They both shot four-under-par 68s - six shots behind Frenchman Alexandre Kaleka who had a brilliant round of 10-under-par 62 with an eagle, nine birdies and a bogey at the eighth in halves of 31.
Paul Lawrie Golf Centre player Kiloh, pictured, returned to form with birdies at the third, fourth, ninth, 11th and 14th, offset by a solitary bogey at the sixth in halves of 34.
Robb, who achieved a top-10 finish in last week's Samanah Open, also at Marrakech, had birdies at the fourth, eighth, ninth, 13th and 16th. He too had one bogey - at the short 15th in halves of 33-35.
Ted Innes Ker had a 70 for a share of 17th place.
David Law's 71 for joint 32nd place included birdies the first, fourth, seventh and 16th but the Aberdonian ruined his card with a double bogey 6 at the 18th.The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre player had also bogeyed the ninth.
Philip McLean is joint 62nd with a 73.
Another Paul Lawrie GC player, Ross Cameron, who had been playing well of late, bogeyed five of the first 10 holes and had to birdie the 16th and 18th to salvage a 74 and joint 74th place.

FERGUSON NEEDS GRANDSTAND FINISH IN SOUTH

AFRICA IF HE IS GOING TO WIN STROKE TITLE

Bearsden's Ewen Ferguson goes into the final round of the South African men's open amateur stroke-play championship in joint fifth place but only three shots behind home hope Rupert Kaminski at Port Elizabeth Golf Club today (Thursday).
Ferguson has had rounds of 65, 71 and 71 for nine-under 207.
The Scot did well to hold his game together in windy conditions and stay in the mix with the chance to swoop for the title if he can repeat his first-round effort, or even lower, on the final circuit.
Craig Ross (Kirkhill) is joint 14th on 212 with rounds of 70, 70 and 72.
Connor Syme (Drumoig) has shot 71, 71 and 74 for 216 and a share of 22nd place.
Craigie Hill's Daniel Young has gone off the boil with deteriorating rounds of 69, 73 and 75 for joint 31st position on 217. Scott Gibson (Southerness) is also on a decline with rounds of 70, 74 and 77 for
221 and joint 57th place.
Ben Kinsley (St Andrews) is tied 69th with rounds 74, 73 and 76 for 223
Ireland's Gavin Moynihan, who won the Scottish open amateur stroke-play title at Panmure last year, is in sixth place, two shots behind Ewen Ferguson.

HUTTON (25th) COULD HAVE GAINED CONDITIONAL

CARD AT EUROPEAN SENIOR TOUR Q SCHOOL

Downfield's Kenny Hutton, the only Scot to qualify for the last day, finished 25that the European Senior Tour's Final Qualifying school over Pestana Golf Resort's par-71 Pinta course at Lagoa on the Algarve.
Hutton had rounds of 78, 71, 74 and 71 for 10-over-par 294.
Although he was never in contention for a top-six finish which would have earned him full playing rights on the 2015 over-50s tour, the Muir of Ord man. had he matched par in his first round instead of a 78. would have gained a conditional card by finishing between seventh and 14th (286-288).
Canadian Ken Tarling led from wire to wire and won by seven shots with an impressive total of six-under-par 278.
Two North-east of England players, Graeme Bell (Eaglescliffe) and John Harrison (Matfen Hall) finished joint second on 285 and will join Tarling on the Senior Tour.

AMATEUR DUFF LEADS PROS AT TOP OF

BRIMOND BISTRO ORDER OF MERIT

Newmachar amateur John Duff, pictured below, leads from professionals Joel Hopwood (Royal Aberdeen) and Lee Vannet (Craibstone), writes Colin Farquharson

That's the top three places in the North-east Golfers' scratch
Order of Merit, sponsored by Craibstone Golf Club's Brimmond Bistro which is open mornings and afternoons to every one, not just club members.
The first three in the scratch order of Merit after the Alliance championship two-round fixture at Craibstone in March will divide
around £250 in vouchers or cash, depending on whether they are amateurs or professionals.
Duff told me he would turn professional if he could get the financial backing from a sponsor or sponsors.

Joel Hopwood, pictured right, captain of the NE Alliance, has devised the points system we have adopted, i.e. points for the top 20 at each Wednesday fixture, ranging from 500 to the winner down to 20pt for 20th place. Points are shared if there is more than one player on the same score.
Joel will supply Scottishgolfview.com with the updated points total every week and the movement, up or down, in the table.
Peterculter reinstated amateur Tony Robertson was the biggest climber of the week in the top 10. He moved up two places from sixth to fourth.
Tomorrow we'll show you the Class 1 Handicap Order of Merit points totals, sponsored by self-employed teaching pro Willie McKenzie's WLM Golf company.
And on Saturday you will be able to view the Class 2 Handicap Order of Merit totals.

The IGF Anti-Doping Hearing Panel concluded that an appropriate sanction would be a period of nine (9) months. Subject to 10.9.1 of the Policy, the Panel found that Mr Bezuidenhout’s sanction shall start on 16 June 2014, the date of the sample collection.
Mr Bezuidenhout shall receive credit against his ineligibility period from 16 June 2014 to 30 January 2015, the date of the decision made by the Panel.

Mr Bezuidenhout shall continue to be ineligible from 30 January 2015, the date of the Panel’s decision, until 16 March 2015, the date on which his ineligibility period shall expire.
The results, including forfeiture of any medals, points and prizes, from any competition that Mr Bezuidenhout participated in, from 16 June 2014 to 1 September 2014 shall be disqualified.
The IGF will have no further comment on the sanction at this point in time.

FROM OUR SOUTH AFRICAN CORRESPONDENT
Christiaan was the number one ranked amateur in South Africa at the time of his suspension.
He has been using the same medication that contained the Beta Blockers since childhood for a nervous affliction (he stutters). , However, neither he nor his parents thought to list this under chronic mediation when he entered the British Amateur.
He won a number of tournaments in 2013 to vault to the number one spot and held the top spot all season until his suspension.
