VISIONARY DEVELOPMENT ON THE CONTINENT

Huxley Golf helps create Austria’s first

all-weather nine-hole golf course

All year round play at Modern Golf, Austria’s first all-weather golf course created by Huxley Golf

NEWS RELEASE
Huxley Golf has announced the completion of its first all-weather nine-hole golf course.  Built from scratch, Modern Golf near Graz, Austria, is the first of its kind with all the tees, greens and fringes created using Huxley Golf’s exceptional all-weather surfaces.
Modern Golf is also the largest installation in Huxley Golf’s history. 5850 square yards (4,890 square metres) of the Company’s Premier Nylon Golf Green material was sent to Austria, together with 2900 square yards (2425 square metres) of Premier 35mm Fringe Turf and 336 square yards (280 square metres) of Huxley Premier Tee Turf.  The tournament-quality surfaces were chosen for their durability and low maintenance requirements which are of significant benefit to the Club.
The artificial greens behave just like natural grass but without the wear and tear and seasonal quality problems.

The concept behind Modern Golf is to enable golfers to play in consistent conditions summer or winter, when they would otherwise be banished to the driving range.  Here, beginners and professionals alike are able to work on their game and enjoy competitive play year-round and until 8pm every day.
It is hoped that this new facility will help to encourage take-up of the sport in Austria. After-work clubs, kids’ camps, women-only training, short-game workshops and golf brunches are all organised for 2014 along with a full club competitions' schedule.
Markus Strobl, Modern Golf’s head golf Professional commented:
“Austria’s climate and mountainous terrain doesn’t naturally lend itself to all year round play.  We have solved many challenges by using a high proportion of all-weather surfaces, floodlighting four fairways and creating a state-of-the-art covered training centre.
"We are very proud of what we’ve created here and I hope that our concept will be adopted around the world.”
This visionary golf course is already attracting attention from around the world. In a recent visit, Guy Moran, Head of Property and Development at the PGA said:
“I was very impressed by the Huxley all-weather greens and tees. They look superb and allow golf to be enjoyed all year round at this forward thinking facility.”
