TSHWANE OPEN FIRST DAY ENDS EARLY WITH PLAY SUSPENSION

DYSON SHARES LEAD WITH A 65

IN SOUTH AFRICA

REPORT FROM EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS
An explosive finish from Simon Dyson handed the Englishman a share of the lead with home favourite Trevor Fisher Jnr on seven under par on the opening day of the Tshwane Open.
At 7,964 yards, the Ernie Els-designed Copperleaf Golf and Country Estate is the longest course on The European Tour, but Dyson carded a flawless round of 65 to sit alongside Fisher Jnr, who still had two holes left to play when play was suspended for the day due to the threat of lightning in Centurion.
Dyson notched birdies at the second and fifth holes on the front nine and collected another shot at the tenth, but it was at the 15th where the 36 year old really hit his stride.
A birdie there was followed by another after a pitch to within a foot at the 16th, before a 15 foot putt at the 17th completed a hat-trick of gains.
And Dyson signed off in style by holing from 25 feet at the last to set the pace, with his compatriot Ross Fisher and four more South Africans in Erik Van Rooyen, Jared Harvey, Darren Fichardt and Danie van Tonder all tied in third place on six under par.
“It was really nice,” said Dyson, who captured the last of his six European Tour titles at the 2011 KLM Open.
“Putting has been the let-down for the last few weeks, but me and my caddie had a chat about what I’m doing wrong. We spent about an hour and a half on the putting green yesterday, and I managed to get a good feel for it.
“I holed a good six footer for par at the first and then about a 40 footer for birdie at the second, and that was it – I was off and running.
“It’s a lovely start. It’s my lowest round in a good few years, especially on the first day. It just puts you in a nice frame of mind, and sets it up nicely to have a good weekend.”
Fisher Jnr will have to set an early alarm on Friday, when play will resume at 6.45am. Like his co-leader, Fisher Jnr is yet to drop a shot at Copperleaf, and the South African will hope to add to his seven birdies in his remaining two holes.
Earlier in the day, Fisher had made an excellent start as he chases a first European Tour win for four years.
A four-time winner between 2007 and 2010, the former Ryder Cup star carded a six under par 66. Having started on the back nine, Fisher turned in a blemish-free 32 before carding a bogey at the first hole.
However, a run of four consecutive birdies from the fifth hole – including a 20 foot putt at the seventh – saw him hit the top of the leaderboard, only to drop a second shot of the day at the last after failing to get up-and-down from just off the green.
“I got into a nice steady run with four birdies in a row on the front nine, which was my back nine,” said Fisher. “Unfortunately I dropped one at the last, but I can’t complain too much with six under.
“The course is pretty soft after all the rain we’ve had, but if you drive it well then you’ll have a lot of looks at birdie.
“My game feels in good shape coming off the back of a good result in South Africa a couple of weeks ago. I don’t know what it is, I just enjoy playing down here and I seem to play quite well.”

SILVER LINING TO BAD NEWS FOR FORMER PGA CUP PLAYER

KNEE OPS THREATEN CRAIG

MATHESON CAREER BUT HE WILL BE

STAYING IN THE PICTURE!

FROM CRAIG MATHESON
Former PGA Cup player
Falkirk Tryst Golf Club attachment

I have been a full time player over the past six years while keeping my hand in at Falkirk Tryst Golf Club, working in the shop and teaching members.
I have played PGA Cup and narrowly missed out qualifying for the Open by one shot on two seperate occasions along with Q School and regular Tartan Tour outings.
Unfortunately I have developed knee problems over the past two seasons and recently been diagnosed with a chronic bone condition requiring multiple surgeries with no guarantees, meaning my full time playing days are over for the time being.
However, every cloud has a silver lining!
I have recently launched a new, revolutionary digital cinematography and imaging company called 'ClearVizion' (Ecosse) which has received great interest and orders so far from property developers to golf clubs and emergency services.
Above and below this article are some aerial images I captured recently from random courses to show the quality of our work including Kilmarnock Barassie, Falkirk Tryst, G-West and Auchterarder
We are specialising in High Definition digital imaging and cinematography, using cutting edge technology to provide an exclusive, one of a kind service to a vast range of industries and trades, from emergency services to estate agents and sports clubs.
We can supply live feed high definition video/images from the air/ground and underwater. Whatever the situation demands we will provide captivating still images/timelapses/video and more, along with providing images for sale on our website and stores if and when applicable to display on a range of devices such as screensavers and digital wallpaper.
Additionally we will sell prints and digital still images in a huge variety of formats such as photos, canvases, collages, calendars, paintings, mouse mats and more.
We are offering an introductory rate for Golf Clubs until the end of April of £500 for a course flyover edited into a 15-20 minute video and polished off with the customer's choice and genre of royalty free music to showcase the club's facilities and surroundings, capturing the atmosphere and ambience of your beloved course.
Check out:

Official website will be up and running in the coming weeks.
Any readers of ScottishGolfView enquiring about our services or booking a shoot will receive a further discount and some free images with any orders placed whether it be for business or personal pleasure such as HD video and images of your beloved house, car or favourite monument or place.
look forward to helping with any inquiries you may have.

FOOTBALL FIRST ON SUNDAY, MARCH 16 FOR ABERDONIAN

PAUL LAWRIE TO MISS MOROCCO EVENT

SO THAT HE CAN GO TO DONS' CUP FINAL

Ardent follower of the fortunes of Aberdeen
Football Club, Paul Lawrie has decided to go to Celtic Park, Glasgow for the Scottish League Cup final between the Dons and Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Sunday, March 16.
"It means I will mss out on the Hassan II Trophy in Morocco but it's been  14 years since the Dons were in a cup final and 19 years since they won a trophy so I can't miss the chance," says Aberdeen-born Paul.
"Whenever I'm at home and able to go to the football, I do. And a Dons' appearance in a cup final is one occasion I can't pass up.
"It's not as if I have a long-time association with the Morocco event and I don't feel as if I will be letting anyone down. I like Morocco and hope to play there in the future but it would have been a stand alone event for for me, so missing it lessens the impact.
"If the Scottish League Cup final hadn't been on in Glasgow, I would have played as it fitted in well to my schedule but one event won't make much difference in the season.
"With Aberdeen also going well in the Scottish Cup, there had been the chance of seeing the Dons in two finals this season but I'm definitely playing in Spain on the weekend of the Scottish Cup final which falls the week before Wentworth and there is no way I can miss that event as its in the midle of a busy period for me."
