Consistent solid play throughout the year ensured Bradley Moore (Kedleston Park, Derbyshire) secured top spot on the Titleist/FootJoy England Golf Boys’ Order of Merit for 2013.

The 16 year old secured four victories in the year, at home and overseas, became a boy international and came close to winning the British Boys Championship.

Moore (image copyright Leaderboard Photography) finished with 50,611 points, over 3,000 more than Jack Singh Brar (Brokenhurst Manor, Hampshire, IoW & CI) while English boy champion Ben Amor (Marlborough, Wiltshire) was third on 41,121 and Marco Penge (Worthing, Sussex), the English under 15 and under 16 champion, fourth with 40,807.

Moore’s victories included the McEvoy Trophy, the Midland Schools Championship, the Midland Boys qualifying and the European Young Masters in Germany, while he was also joint runner-up in the English Boys under 16 Championship for the McGregor Trophy.

“I’m pleased to have won the Boys Order of Merit and I thank Titleist and FootJoy for their support,” said Moore. “I’ve had a good season. I made a good start by winning the Peter McEvoy Trophy then winning in Germany was a great boost and gave me a lot more confidence.

“I was a bit disappointed not to reach the British Boys final but I had a tough match with Bobby Keeble in the quarter finals which went to the 21st hole and didn’t give me much time before the semi-final which I lost.

“It’s been a hectic season and now I’m having a bit of a rest. It’s nice to be at home with the family then after Christmas I’ll get going again.”

Singh Brar, who celebrates his 17th birthday on 18th November, was also in the winners’ circle during the season. His successes included the Berkhamsted Trophy and the South of England Boys Championship, while he rounded off the season with runner-up spots in the Duke of York Young Champions tournament and the Daily Telegraph Junior Championship.

He also finished third in the McEvoy Trophy, the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters and the Irish Boys Open Championship, where he won the under 17 title. He also represented England at boys level.

Amor, 18, won the English boys title for the Carris Trophy after a three-way playoff at West Lancashire Golf Club in July, finishing tied on 286, two under par, with Italy’s Renato Paratore and Jamie Li from Bath but took the title at the second extra hole.

A member of the re-constituted England ‘A’ Squad, Amor also finished third in the Welsh Open Youths Championship, fourth in the Canadian Junior Challenge and won all six of his games on his England debut in the Boys Home Internationals.

Penge, 15, won five titles during the year. He took the Fairhaven Trophy in a playoff and then won the South Region Schools Championship before lifting the under 15 and under 16 titles at Seacroft, and winning the Douglas Johns Trophy. He also represented England at under 16 and boys levels.
