NEWS RELEASE
Adam Scott successfully defended his Australian Masters title for his second victory in two weeks, scrambling Sunday for an even-par 71 and a two-shot victory at wind-swept Royal Melbourne.
Scott won the Australian PGA last week in his first event in Australia since winning the Masters in April. Scott, the first Australian to ever win a green jacket, withstood a charge Sunday from Matt Kuchar, who was even with Scott going into the final hole.
Kuchar, ahead by two strokes with four to play and level with Scott with one to go, double-bogeyed the 18th after taking two shots to get out of a bunker. Kuchar had a 68 to finish second.
Vijay Singh, one of four players tied for second at the start of play, finished third after a 71, four behind playing partner Scott. The 50-year-old Fijian was attempting to win for the first time since 2008.
Scott finished at 14-under 270.

HENRIK STETSON SET FOR SUPER DOUBLE WHAMMY IN DUBAI

REPORT FROM EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS

cid:image003.jpg@01CEE089.70C7B280
The Race to Dubai is set for a thrilling finale on the final day of the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai with Henrik Stenson in pole position to complete a magnificent double.

The Swede, who also leads The Race to Dubai, has a one stroke advantage over Frenchman Victor Dubuisson after a five under par 67 at Jumeirah Golf Estates in the last event of the season, and victory on Sunday would guarantee him the crown of European Number One.

Standing in his way, however, are Englishmen Ian Poulter, whose 66 left him four strokes back, and Justin Rose, who had a 68 to remain six adrift. Both players can pip Stenson to the Race to Dubai title with victory, but the FedEx Cup winner is feeling confident after notching four birdies in the last five holes to regain the lead.

“If anything, it just makes me try even harder and focus harder,” said Stenson when asked how he felt about his rivals narrowing the gap. “I know the guys are going to try their hardest to attack again tomorrow.

“There's no point getting ahead of myself.  There's still one more day to go and I have to give it my best.  It's all about being in position on Sunday afternoon.

“I'm leading the tournament and I’ll be trying my hardest to win, because if I do that I know both trophies are going to come home with me. That’s my focus.”

Dubuisson won his maiden title in the Turkish Airlines Open by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism last week and is once again in imperious form.

“The last three months, I've been working very hard on my putting and my short game,” he said. “I’m trying not to think about my win last week. When I arrived here on Tuesday, I just tried to think about this week.”

Poulter, who needs to win and Stenson to finish lower than second to win The Race to Dubai, was characteristically bullish ahead of the final round, saying: “I caught him at one stage today. I'll catch him again, don't worry about that. I’ve just got to keep hold of him.”

CHINA'S LEADS BY ONE IN MANILA MASTERS WITH ROUND TO GO

LIANG TAKES CONTROL AT RESORTS WORLD MANILA MASTERS
  REPORT FROM THE ASIAN TOUR
Manila, November 16: China’s Liang Wen-chong broke clear of the chasing pack when he posted a third round five-under-par 67 to take a one-shot lead into Sunday's final round at the inaugural US$750,000 Resorts World Manila Masters on
With a host of players battling for the outright lead at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club, it finally took a birdie on the 17th hole to give China’s number one golfer pole position before he went on to sign for a three-day total of 13-under-par 203.
Malaysia’s Nicholas Fung returned with a 70 to share second place with Korean-American David Lipsky on 204 while India’s Himmat Rai carded a 68 to take tied-fourth place alongside overnight leader Jazz Janewattananond at the newest event to make its debut on the Asian Tour this season.
Liang started his round three shots back of the overnight leaders but quickly reduced his deficit with birdies in his opening two holes.
The Chinese dropped his only shot of the day at the par-three fifth but recovered well with another birdie on the ninth to turn in 34.
Liang then birdied three of his last five holes to remain firmly in contention for his third Asian Tour win.
“It was another great round and I’m happy that I managed to stay patient throughout the day,” said Liang.
With several impressive performances this year including three top-five finishes in India, Russia and Austria, Liang is however not ready to think of another victory on the region’s premier Tour just yet.
“If you look at the leaderboard, the race is still wide open. Anything can happen and I just have to concentrate and hope things go my way tomorrow,” said Liang, who holds the honour of being the first, and so far only, Chinese golfer to have broken into the top-100 on the OWGR with his career high of 57th place in 2010.
Lipsky also believes the contest is far from over as he goes in search of his second Asian Tour win this week.
“The course is playing really tough today. The wind was picking up and the greens are really firm. I’m happy with my round today and I am looking forward to the final round tomorrow,” said Lipsky.
Prior to his arrival in Manila, Lipsky had only made the cut thrice in eight starts this season. The 25-year-old is however enjoying a welcome return to form and is determined to end the week with a flourish.
“My first Asian Tour win in Cambodia meant a lot to me. I struggled a little bit with my swing earlier this year but it’s getting back on track now. It’s just great to be back in contention. If I can win, it would be even better so we will see how it goes tomorrow,” said Lipsky.
Meanwhile Fung, who currently leads the rankings on the Asian Development Tour (ADT), which is the Tour’s secondary circuit, is excited with the prospect of lifting his maiden title on the main Tour.
“Tomorrow will be the first time I’ll be playing in the final group and I’m going to try my best to win this tournament,” said Fung.
With the windy conditions affecting his play, the Malaysian is hoping for better weather conditions as he eyes a grandstand finish.
“The conditions were really tough today and I struggled. But luckily, I’m only one shot back of Liang and I’ll try my best to overtake him,” said Fung.

WESSELINGH MOVES TO WINTHIN A SHOT OF LEAD ON TAIWAN

REPORT FROM EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS
England’s Paul Wesselingh is on course to take over pole position on the Senior Tour Order of Merit heading into the season finale after moving within a shot of the lead at the Fubon Senior Open in Taiwan.
Wesselingh, who is aiming to win the John Jacobs Trophy as the leading money winner a year after winning the Rookie of the Year honours, carded a four under par 68 to move to seven under 137 and just one stroke adrift of Taiwan’s Lu Wen Teh heading into the final round  at Miramar Golf and Country Club.
Significantly he is also ten shots ahead of the current Order of Merit leader Steen Tinning as he looks to make up the €9,932 deficit before the season finale in Mauritius. A top ten finish could be enough although he is trying not to think about that.
“I can only look after myself and not worry anyone else,” said Wesselingh. “I am just pleased to be in this position and happy to be seven under par.”
Wesselingh won twice earlier in the season, capturing the ISPS HANDA PGA Seniors Championship and the Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open but suffered a mystery bite in Switzerland which caused him to lose a stone in weight and knocked him off his stride in mid-summer. But five top tens in his last six outings have lifted him to second on the Order of Merit and he could well go top tomorrow.
“I am delighted with my year so far,” he said. “To be second on the Order of Merit with two events to go is fantastic. But the Number One race is still wide open and so many people can still win in Mauritius. It’s exciting.”
Wind and rain at the start made conditions tough for the first few holes of the round but the rain soon eased off and Wesselingh stepped up a gear. A birdie on the fourth, where he holed from  five feet, was his only gain on the front nine but be picked up shots on the two par fives on the back nine as well as the 16th, where he pitched to seven feet.
“I played well again today,” he admitted, “And the most pleasing part is not to make a bogey on the first two days.”
Lu Wen Teh denied Wesselingh the lead heading into the final round by birdieing the last for an impressive round of 66 to move to eight under par, much to the delight of the home fans. England’s Bob Cameron lies in third place at four under par, four off the lead.
Among the other contenders in the battle to become Senior Tour Number One, England’s Simon Brown lies joint ninth on one under par after a level par 72 while Tinning is down in a share of 27th on three over after bogeying his last three holes for a 73.
