DAVID LAW WINS BY THREE FROM HOST PAUL LAWRIE

Runner-up Paul Lawrie with winner David Law.

David Law led from start to finish to win the Paul Lawrie Invitational by three shots from his host at Deeside Golf Club today.
The 22-year-old Aberdonian, after a stellar career as an amateur, was scoring his first pro win in the United Kingdom following victories in Morocco and Turkey on satellite tours. He earned £6,000 for a classy performance.
On a very wet day, Law closed with his worst round of the three over the Bieldside course, a one-under-par 69 for an 11-under total of 199.
With birdies at the long third, short 12th and long 13th, Law had raised the bar to 13 under par but he bogeyed the last two holes.
Fittingly, Paul Lawrie, who could play the Deeside course blindfold, matched the lowest round of the tournament - a second-round 64 by Law - on his last circuit to finish second on 202.
Paul, who nominally received £4,000 for being runner-up, had a bogey-free card with six birdies - at the second, long third, long sixth, long 13th, 15th and 18th.
Montrose's Graeme Brown finished third with a 67 for 204 to pick up a cheque for £2,750, one of his biggest pay days as a pro.

Connor Syme, son of the Dumfries and County Golf Club professional, conjured up a brilliant final round of five-under-65 to swoop past Bradley Neil, the Scottish U18boys champion from Blairgowrie, to win the leading amateur award with a joint sixth place finish overall on three-under 207. A great effort.
Neil had three rounds of 70 for 210.

DAVID BROWN WINS NE ALLIANCE AT STONEHAVEN

Kemnay Golf Club professional David Brown, third last week, stepped up a couple of places to win this week's North-east Golfers' Alliance competition at Stonehaven Golf Club.
Brown headed a field of 74 with a level par round of 66 - two shots ahead of fellow pro Colin Nelson (Mackenzie Shop) and Auchmill amateur Brian Nicolson.
Brown made his score with a bogey-free outward half of 31, highlighted by a birdie at the third. He dropped shots after the turn, at the 12th, 14th and 17th, but compensated with birdies at the 13th and long 16th.
Nelson was only one behind Brown at halfway but took 36 shots to come home while Nicholson had two halves of 34.
