ADAM SCOTT ONE OF NINE PLAYERS TAKING LEGAL ADVICE OVER BAN ON ANCHORED PUTTERS

  FROM THE BBC SPORT.COM WEBSITE
Masters Champion Adam Scott is one of nine players taking legal advice over the ban on anchored putters from 2016.
Governing bodies the R and A and the US Golf Association (USGA) said on Tuesday they had decided to impose the rule.
The ban will apply to any club rested against a part of the body, such as the broom-handle or the belly putter.
South African Tim Clark and Sweden's Carl Pettersson are also preparing to contest the ruling.
The other six players are currently unknown.
Clark said: "We do have legal counsel. We'll explore options. We're not going to just roll over and accept this."
Boston based lawyer Harry L. Manion represents the nine players and says he has read the governing bodies' explanation for the ban.
"I'm not persuaded by it," Manion told GolfDigest.com
"There's some good lawyering in there, but I don't think they've made the case, and I believe the court would see it that way, too."
At the announcement of the ban, which takes effect from 1 January 2016, R and A chief executive Peter Dawson admitted to being concerned that players could file lawsuits.

"I very much hope not," he said. "I don't think lawsuits will be on particularly strong ground."
The US PGA Tour opposed the ban when it was first proposed and, following its confirmation, a statement said: "We will now begin our process to ascertain whether the various provisions of Rule 14-1b will be implemented in our competitions and, if so, examine the process for implementation.
"In this regard, over the next month we will engage in discussions with our Player Advisory Council and Policy Board members.
"We will announce our position regarding the application of Rule 14-1b to our competitions upon conclusion of our process."
A 90-day consultation process was allocated for comments and suggestions when the proposals were first unveiled in November last year.
The USGA dealt with about 2,200 individual responses, while the R and A received 450 replies from 17 countries.
Clark, 37, who earned a five-year exemption on the US PGA Tour after winning the Players' Championship in 2010, dismissed the consultation period as "all smoke and mirrors".

MATT KUCHAR ONE SHOT AHEAD AT THE COLONIAL

FROM THE US PGA TOUR WEBSITE
In the third round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, Matt Kuchar leads by one stroke at 11 under par.

 By PGATOUR.COM wire reports
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Matt Kuchar finished a long Saturday at Colonial exhausted and still a stroke in front.
"This morning feels like a day ago," Kuchar said. "It's hard to believe it's the same day."

After making a 12-foot birdie putt at the par-3 16th hole, the same place where his day began at 7:13 a.m. to finish the suspended second round, Kuchar had two nifty par-savers to finish a 1-under 69 in the third round.
He was at 11-under 199, one ahead of Graham DeLaet, Boo Weekley, Chris Stroud and Matt Every at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.
When the second round was suspended Friday night because of an approaching storm, Kuchar had just hit his tee shot at the par-3 16th. He resumed there early Saturday with a two-putt from about 40 feet. That was part of three quick pars to keep his one-stroke lead after two rounds, then he played in the final group that finished just after 5 p.m.
Kuchar made his go-ahead stroke in the third round at No. 16 -- after falling behind by as many as two strokes -- before his approach shot at the 379-yard 17th landed in a greenside bunker. He blasted to 13 feet and saved par before hooking his tee shot at No. 18 into the left rough. He found more tall grass near the green with his second shot before pitching inside 3 feet.
"To not give away a stroke and maintain a one-shot lead is a good position to be in. Everybody has got to come get me," Kuchar said.
"Not only a bunch of players, but a bunch of good players up there. ... I'm looking forward to having the lead and seeing if I can maintain it, and my goal will be to grow the lead."
Weekley, even with problems maintaining focus in his left eye, and Every shot third-round 66s. Stroud had a 67 and DeLaet, playing with Kuchar, had three back-nine bogeys before a birdie at No. 18 for a 69.
Ranked No. 5 in the FedExCup standings -- highest among those who made the cut -- Kuchar started the third round with a birdie at the easy par-5 first hole. At the 458-yard third hole, his 8-foot birdie attempt rolled over the cup without falling, ending his streak of 34 consecutive made putts under 10 feet this week at Hogan's Alley.
Kuchar missed another short one, a 5-foot par putt after blasting out of a greenside bunker at the seventh hole. He then missed the green on at the par-3 eighth and bogeyed again, putting him 9 under and two strokes behind DeLaet, the 31-year-old Canadian looking for his first US PGA Tour victory.
"I felt like they were easy up-and-downs," Kuchar said. "I was glad to bounce back."

.
DeLaet was at 12 under after he and Kuchar both had birdies at the par-5 11th hole before his bogeys at Nos. 13, 14 and 17.
Kuchar won the WGC-Accenture Match Play in February, and will try Sunday to join Tiger Woods as the only multiple winners on the PGA TOUR this season. Kuchar is a five-time winner, including his signature victory at the 2012 PLAYERS Chapmionship, but never has won twice in the same season.
There could be a lot of competition in the final round at Colonial, where 12 players are within three strokes of the lead. That dozen includes defending champion Zach Johnson, who also won in 2010, at 202.
Johnson shot 68, his 18th time under par his last 19 rounds at Hogan's Alley. The lone exception being his closing 72 last year that included a two-stroke penalty. Five-time winner Ben Hogan is the only player to win Colonial more than twice.
"Certainly the confidence of playing well here is something I'm going to try to lean on," Johnson said.
Weekley, who has won twice but not since 2008, had gotten to 10 under during his second round Friday when he made consecutive birdies after making his turn. But he had a late four-hole stretch with a double bogey and two bogeys. He was back at 10 under Saturday with consecutive birdies at Nos. 11 and 12, and was still there after an up-and-down finish.
"When we got done playing (Friday), I went out to the range and practiced a little bit and focused back on what we are here to do , and that's win and play the best we can," Weekley said.
There was a bogey at the 14th when he missed the fairway with his tee shot and the green with his approach, but he made a 6-foot birdie at No. 15. He missed a 5-foot par chance at No. 16, but finished with a birdie after his approach inside 3 feet at the closing hole.
After having problems reading greens in recent tournaments, Weekley this week went to doctor to have his left eye checked. But he still hasn't found out what the problem is.
"I get like a real bad twitch when I'm trying to focus on something, especially staring down on the ball," Weekley said. "It's happened, I'd say probably 15-20 times so far this week."
Even with that problem, he's still got a chance to win.

DINWIDDIE, GAUNT AND MANLEY TIED FOR LEAD AT ROYAL WATERLOO

REPORT FROM EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS
Robert Dinwiddie of England, Australia’s Daniel Gaunt and

Welshman Stuart Manley are set for a battle of the nations in Royal

Waterloo Golf Club as they enter the final day of the Telenet

Trophy tied at the top on nine under par.
On a moving day when the much more favourable conditions were

not complimented by lower scoring at the top end of the

leaderboard, Northern Ireland’s Gareth Shaw produced the round

of the day to join the chasing pack one shot off the leaders thanks

to a six under par 65.
Manley climbed into a share of that lead courtesy of a four under

67 - the fifth sub-69 score in his last seven rounds on the Challenge

Tour, having finishing tied fourth at the Montecchia Golf Open

presented by POLAROID two weeks ago.
It will be a little bit of history repeating for the 34 year old as he

was also in the final group the last time he played the beautiful

Royal Waterloo parkland, set in the leafy suburb of Brussels.
That time out, his playing partner François Calmels emerged

victorious but the former Walker Cup player is feeling positive

entering the final round.
“I am pretty confident,” said Manley. “I didn’t seal it on the last

day the last time around but it’s just nice being in contention. I will

probably be a bit more positive and aggressive and go for it more

this time around.
“I played pretty solid today. I was expecting the leaders to pull

away and have some good scores so when I looked at the

leaderboard and saw I was at the top I was quite surprised.”
Gaunt, meanwhile, signed for a two under par 69 to move to the

summit and the Melbourne-born player revealed that he is

currently benefiting from some big changes in his lifestyle and his

game, having given up smoking last week while also acquiring a

belly-putter prior to this tournament.
“I haven’t played badly all year to be honest, even though I’ve

been struggling to make cuts,” said the 34 year old. “It just makes a

big difference when putts drop. I was missing two-footers. I've

been so frustrated. I didn’t want to make the putter change but it’s

what I needed to do to build some confidence. This is a course I

know I can handle and it would be good to get a win tomorrow and

push on from here.”
Dinwiddie struggled to build on the second round 65 which handed

him a share of the lead going into the weekend but he produced an

impressive comeback with a two under par back nine earning him a

level par round of 71 to remain at the top.
With 12 players within three shots of the three-way lead, the home

course of Nicolas Colsaerts is set for an enthralling finale and

Englishman Tyrrell Hatton will enter championship Sunday

brimming with confidence after five birdies in the final six holes

elevated him to tied second on eight under, alongside Shaw and

Portugal’s José-Filipe Lima.

CANIZARES HAS WESTWOOD ON HIS TAIL FOR WENTWORTH FINAL ROUND

FROM EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS Spaniard Alejandro Cañizares birdied both of Wentworth Club’s famous closing par fives to take a one-shot lead over Englishman Lee Westwood into the final round of the BMW PGA Championship.
Cañizares’ father José Maria, the four-time Ryder Cup player, finished in the top ten four times at Wentworth, but Alejandro will now be hoping to become the first Spaniard since Miguel Angel Jiménez in 2008 to win The European Tour’s flagship event.
The 30 year old recovered from bogeys on the 13th and 15th holes to finish his round with back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes of the West Course, signing for a 68 to move to nine under par for the Championship.
He will have Westwood for company in the final group after the former World Number One eagled the fourth hole en route to a five under par 67, but Cañizares vowed to enjoy his final round showdown with one of Europe’s Ryder Cup stars.
“I'm sure I'm going to be nervous,” he said.  “I'm sure I'm going to be more nervous than Lee Westwood.
“It's a pleasure to be there.  I did not expect it but obviously it’s a great opportunity to be able to play with Lee Westwood, and I've done it a few times before so I know how it is.  I'm just going to try to enjoy it and play my golf, be focused on every shot, be focused on my game, and see what happens.”
Westwood’s recent hard work on his short game appears to be paying off, and the 40 year old is eager to go one better than two years ago when he lost in a play-off to Luke Donald.
“It was one of the most fun days I've ever had on the golf course I think,” he said. “The crowds have always been good when I played in England but it felt like a lot of support today.”
Italian Matteo Manassero, who is 20 years younger than Westwood and ten years younger than Cañizares, shares third position on seven under par with Scotland’s Marc Warren after rounds of 69 and 70 respectively.
Ireland’s Shane Lowry  is a shot further back on six under par following a 69, while Sergio Garcia (68) and Francesco Molinari (73) are in a group of eight players in a share of sixth position on five under par.

One of the best scores of the day was a 67 by Greig Hutcheon, the Banchory tour pro who qualified to play in this championship through winning the Scottish PGA Order of Merit - he was also the Tartan Tour leading money-winner last year.
Hutcheon just made the cut last night and he is set for a big cheque
if he can produce another sub-70 score on Sunday. He is on 213, six shots off the pace.

CURRIE AND BROWN TIE FOR WIN AT DALMUIR PRO-AM

Christopher Currie (Caldwell) and Montrose Links' Graeme Brown
made hay while the sun shone for the West Dunbartonshire pro-am
over the Dalmuir municipal course.
Between them they had 13 birdies over the par-68 lay-out as each
hit the four-under-par 64 mark.
Currie birdied the long third, fifth, sixth, eighth, 10th and short 15th, offset by bogeys at the short 11th and 13th.
Brown had more birdies - but more bogeys too. His seven sub-par
figures came at the second, long third, sixth, eighth, 10th, short 12th
and 16th. But he dropped strokes at the seventh, short 11th and short 14th.
Each earned £1,072.
Chris Kelly (Cawder), whose girlfriend Heather MacRae won on the LETAS circuit in Sweden on Friday, collected £715 for third place on 65, a bogey-free round with three early birdies at the long third, short fourth and sixth.
Stephen Gray (Hayston) won this event with a 66 12 months ago. He had the same score today but it earned him only a share of fourth place with Mark Kerr (Marriott Dalmahoy) this time.
By the way, the pros unanimously considered the greens at this municipal venue, to be the best they have played on so far this season. Take a bow, the greenkeeping staff at Dalmuir!
