JORDAN FINDLAY WINS ALLIANCE AT
BALLATER BY FIVE SHOTS WITH A 65

Twice Scottish Alliance  champion Jordan Findlay (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) rolled back the years with a vintage performance to win this week's North-east Golfers Alliance competition with a five-under-par round of 65 at Ballater.
On a cold, wet and wintry day, Findlay had an eagle (at the par-5 11th) and six birdies (at the first, sixth, seventh, 12th, 14th and 16th in halves of one-under 34 and four-under 31.
The Fraserburgh player, who won the Scottish Alliance title in 2010 and 2011, had five shots to spare over Tartan Tour No 1 Greig Hutcheon (Banchory) (35-35) and McDonald Ellon amateur Kevin Duncan who had two 6s in an outward 37.
John Hamilton (Murcar Links) had a hole in one at the par-3 17th on his way to a gross 76
Claire Prouse (Hazlehead), playing off eight of a handicap, won the Class 1 handicap section with a net 67, one shot ahead of her father Laurence, who has six of a handicap.
Retired Hazlehead professional Ian Smith, who continues to play in the Alliance with 12 of a handicap, won Class 2 with a net 64.
The unpleasant conditions kept the field down to 54 competitors.
