FROM STEVE MORGAN

I like the current format of the Ryder Cup, but agree with Paul Lawrie comments that if everybody played every session then that would improve things, it must be frustrating for guys to wear the team colours for the pomp and ceremony and then not play until the last day - arguably the match could be over before a player gets the chance to make any sort of influence. On other matters I disagree with the home captain setting up the course to their liking though, not that I think it should be US Open style rough, but the non existence of any penalty for wayward driving at Medinah spoiled things for me a little bit this time around. In the first two days we saw the USA team drive it miles left or miles right only to find they had a great lie and a shot to the green, thats not really a great advert for golf - we all want to see huge drives and great birdies but not 50 yards off the fairway. The course should be set up as it would be for a normal tour event, to penalise bad shots as well as reward good.
Finally I always find it dissappointing the a certain Mr Lyle has never beeen given the honour of captaining the team. He was one of the great European players of his era and all the others have been given the honour, but never Sandy.
In this years Ryder Cup match much was made of Seve's inspiration and influence and rightly so, he was a remarkable character, but even in his words when everybody played their best game Sandy was the top man. I think if Sandy wants the job he should get it in his native land in 2014.
