SIMON DYSON HAS RYDER CUP PLACE IN HIS SIGHTS FOR 2012

FROM THE BBC SPORT WEBSITE
York golfer Simon Dyson has set his sights on a place in Europe's Ryder Cup team as one of his targets for 2012.
The 34-year-old will end the current year 16th in the Ryder Cup points list, and 28th in the world rankings.
He told BBC Radio York: "I think I've improved from last year and if I can just keep doing what I'm doing, then I've got a very good chance.
"I'm not going to beat myself up about it trying to get in it, I'm just going to let my golf do the talking."
Dyson just missed out on a place in the 2010 European team.
"I was very close last year. I did well in the USPGA and then I came back to the Czech Republic and I've got to be honest, I should have won that with the golf I played, " he said.
"I just got little bit unlucky on a few holes coming in and if I'd won that I'd have had a chance of making it.
"I finished about fourth there and then I went to Glenneagles and had to win to get in the team and I finished fourth again. So I pushed it really hard and it was a shame."
Dyson added: "If I keep playing how I have done for the last three months, if I don't get in it, they'll have a very strong side. If I do, fantastic.
"It's not really about the money for me. It's about trying to achieve as much as I can.
"I've had six wins (on the European Tour) now which is pretty good."
The Ryder Cup takes place from September 28 to 30 next year at the Medinah Country Club, Chicago - a course originally designed by Aberdonian Tom Bendelow who emigrated to America in the late 19th Century.

SCRIVENER LEADS AUSTRALIAN PGA FINAL QUALIFYING SCHOOL

FROM THE PGA OF AUSTRALIA WEBSITE
Jason Scrivener has consolidated his lead of the PGA Tour of Australasia’s Final Stage Qualifing School after finishing the second round with 4-under 68 to give him a tournament total of 10-under the card.
Striking the ball well and showing some excellent use of his irons, Scrivener was content with his round.
“I was pretty happy with the round, I hit the ball really well today but I didn’t hole many putts,” said Scrivener
“But, all in all, you can’t be disappointed with a 68.”
Playing at the North Course of the Peninsula Golf and Country Club, a course that seems to suit Scrivener, he had another excellent round, remaining bogey -free for the second day.
“I haven’t made a bogey yet, so it would be nice to go three rounds without one – that will be a goal for tomorrow.”
With a field full of talented players including two time PGA Tour of Australasia winner Euan Walters, a former Victorian Open Champion in Brad Lamb and 2010 British Amateur Champion Jin Jeong (the first Asian to win the title - he beat James Byrne 5 and 4 at Muirfield in last year's final), 22-year-old Scrivener is very pleased to have maintained his lead.
“I feel like I have played pretty solid but it is windy out there today so you never know what scores might come in.”
While not a goal at the start of the week, a win for Scrivener is looking likely.
“I didn’t come into the week with any expectations.
“I struggled a little bit last week so I came in with a different attitude this week and it seems to be working.”
Yet the win is still a round away and a relaxed Scrivener knows that a solid performance tomorrow is needed.
“There is still another 18 holes to play so I have to concentrate and focus on that.
“I just have to keep doing what I have been doing and put one more good round together.”
Looking to take the win from Scrivener is Daniel Popovic who is just one shot back at 9-under the card. A further two shots back is James Carr.
Following today’s round there was a cut to 60 plus ties with 6-over seeing 62 players through to the final round.
