Late short-hole disaster for Jimmy Gunn

Former Royal Dornoch amateur Jimmy Gunn, now campaigning as a professional on the Gateway Tour in Arizona, was lying joint 42nd with a one-under-par 71 after the first round of the Desert Winter Series event at The Trilogy Golf Club at Vistansia, near Phoenix.
Gunn was heading for a sub-70 score until he double-bogeyed the short 17th. Earlier he had birdied three long holes, the seventh, 13th and 16th, as well as the par-4 10th but he dropped a shot at the first long hole, the third.
Kevin Stadler led the big field with a nine-under-par 63.
