The title race in the Monday Night League had a thrilling finish with just one scoring ball deciding the destination of the Fairways Leisure Shield.
The Neverwillbees were in pole position, starting the night two points ahead of Loch Ness Juniors but the Juniors' superior shots-scored record would see them snatch the title with any slip-up by the Neverwillbees – as long as the Juniors won their game!
A victory for the Juniors was never in doubt as they faced wooden spooners Matthew MacPherson and the expected 2pt went to the Juniors by a comfortable margin.
This meant that the Neverwillbees had to win to secure their first ever league title but they were playing the quickly improving team of Trilight who mustered their best score of the season – an impressive total of 61!
The Neverwillbees had only scored more that that once this season so it was going to be an uphill task and in the end they only had 10 scoring balls to the 12 of Trilight. But the Neverwillbees were better at the higher-scoring targets and amassed a total of 63 to beat Trilight by just 2 shots, take the two points for the win to grab the league title.
Not only did Trilight lose the game, they dropped from third to fourth in the league table as BM Trucks, courtesy of the bye, leapfrogged them by just one point.
Both the Loch Ness Juniors and The Neverwillbees go into Wednesday night's Top Team Play-off (7.30pm) and join the Luckless Leadbetters and Fairways in trying to win the Bank of Scotland Cup.
MONDAY NIGHT LEAGUE RESULTS
Trilight 61 – 63 The Neverwillbees.
Loch Ness Juniors 54 – 17 Matthew MacPherson.
BM Trucks (Bye) 29.

LEAGUE PLACINGS
1 The Neverwillbees 10-18
2 Loch Ness Juniors 10-16
3 BM Trucks 10-11
4 Trilight 10-10.
5 M MacPherson 10-5.

European Open goes back to London
golf Club at end of May, 2009

PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY EUROPEAN TOUR
The European Open will be held at The London Golf Club for the second consecutive year from May 28-31, 2009, following its successful return to England last season for the first time since 1994.
A world-class field, including defending champion Ross Fisher of England, will contest the £2.4 million tournament which can secure precious earnings towards the inaugural Race to Dubai.
Fisher profited most from the return of The European Tour to his native country in 2008 by claiming his second European Tour victory by an emphatic seven strokes over Sergio Garcia of Spain last July.
The European Open will once again be played over the 7,257 yard, par 72 Jack Nicklaus-designed Signature Heritage Course, which is one of two courses - along with The International - at The London Golf Club, near Brands Hatch in North Kent.
The Club has gained considerable recognition on both an international and national scale in recent years since The Bendinat Group acquired the 700 acre venue back in 2004. No stranger to tournament golf, the Club has hosted four European Senior Tour events and, with the forthcoming edition of The European Open next July, two main Tour events since its opening in 1994.
George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour, said: “Selecting The London Golf Club to host this prestigious event for the second consecutive year demonstrates our absolute confidence in the quality of facilities on and off the course at The London Golf Club.”
Charles Fairweather, Chairman of The London Golf Club, said: “Everyone at the Club is delighted that the venue has once again been chosen to host The European Open. We were immensely pleased in 2008 by the reaction of Europe’s finest golfers to both the golf course and the facilities on offer at The London Golf Club and we look forward to an equally successful tournament in 2009.”
It will be the 32nd edition of The European Open, which began in 1978 and has previously been won by some of golf’s most iconic names, including Nick Faldo (1992), Retief Goosen (2004), Bernhard Langer (1985 and 1995), Sandy Lyle (1979), Colin Montgomerie (2007), Greg Norman (1986) and Ian Woosnam (1988).
Last season was the first time The European Open had been played in England since it was held at East Sussex National in 1994, with The K Club in Ireland hosting the event for 13 successive years from 1995 to 2007.

Tiger's caddie now sayshe regrets comments

Tiger Woods' caddie, New Zealander Steve Williams, now says he regrets making disparaging remarks about Phil Mickelson.
The comment, made at a charity function in New Plymouth, was reported by the local newspaper and later picked up by The Guardian newspaper in London.
This follows a statement from the Woods' camp saying he was "disappointed" with his caddie's comments.
Williams today moved to downplay the entire affair, saying he regretted opening his mouth in the first place.
"I don't deny that him (Mickelson) and I don't get along," said Williams from his New Zealand base.
"I shouldn't have said it, but no harm was meant. I was just having some fun."
